Director of Finance

Job Summary

Core Responsibilities
- Develop, improve and execute strategies and standards related to accounting policy, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, budgeting, financial systems and controls
- Ensure accounting activities comply with regulatory requirements
- Oversee tax and audit reporting processes
- Create financial forecasting models
- Analyze performance and risks to drive financial planning
- Engage with Birgo Leadership Team in strategic planning and decision making
- Lead, manage and hold accountable accounting and asset management personnel
- Collaborate in the management of investor and lender relationships
- Collaborate in facilitating monthly regional financial review meetings and creating financial summary reports
- Forecast and manage liquidity of real estate investment funds
- Other duties as identified to help Birgo improve lives through real estate

Objectives and Key Results
- Complete highest priority 90 day projects that drive the mission
- Meet or exceed targets for financial statement close process, investor reporting timelines, and cash flow metrics
- Demonstrate ongoing professional development

Requirements - Successful Candidate Profile

Education & Experience
- BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field;  MSc/MBA or relevant certification (e.g. CFA/CPA) is a plus
- 10+ years’ experience as a Controller, Director of Finance, Manager of FP&A, or similar role
- Real estate and/or fund management experience (preferred)

Skills & Qualifications

- In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting principles, budgeting, cash flow management, tax preparation, and financial statement generation
- Proficiency in corporate accounting softwares, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Confident and experienced in developing strategic plans and taking calculated risks
- Ability to deal with abstract concepts, systems and ideas in an organized and self-disciplined way

Other Requirements

- Attend in-person meetings at Birgo’s Pittsburgh office 1-3 days per week when the office fully reopens
