Mt. Lebanon is dubbed a community of character...but that wouldn’t be true without all the people and places that make up this wonderful suburb. Today, we’re happy to highlight some of our favorite small businesses located in Mt. Lebanon.

For those who don’t know, Mt. Lebanon is an upscale suburb located 25 minutes south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Here at Birgo Realty, we have an expanding portfolio in the Mt. Lebanon area - check out our apartments in Mt. Lebanon here.

Overview

The Best Restaurants in Mt. Lebanon

From mom and pop shops to modern cuisine, Mt. Lebanon has it all.

Mediterra Cafe

Millennials and Gen Z, this one’s for you. Mediterra is a casual, yet hip cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, coffee, alcoholic beverages and charcuterie boards. Talk about a one-stop shop!

Their menu has our mouths watering - next time you’re in the Mt. Lebanon area, be sure to stop in for food and drinks that are almost too pretty to eat!

Mineo’s Pizza

This is a recommendation from our Mt. Lebanon property manager, Lauren Ball.  Mineo’s Pizza is located on Washington Road is a highly rated pizza shop.

Try something different when you order like adding taco toppings instead of the regular pepperoni! Would you devour this pie? Let us know!

Fun fact: Our Central Square Apartment building is located directly across from Mineo’s!

HitchHiker Brewing Co.

This one’s a favorite in our books. While not your typical “restaurant,” this local pub is perfect for your next date night.

Whether it’s after work or a weekend affair, you can relax knowing the HitchHiker Brewing staff will brew you the best beer possible and wrap it all into one amazing experience.

If you’re opting for food, we highly recommend the Amish Hard Pretzel. It’s the perfect pairing with one of their on tap beers.

Shop Small

Shop small at some of our favorite Mt. Lebanon boutiques. Whether you're shopping for clothes or apartment decor, we've got you covered.

For apartment design inspo, read our hygge blog.

Barefoot Stitches & Gifts

Barefoot Stitches & Gifts is not your typical boutique. Their monogrammed and engraved items offer a unique twist on everyday gifts! Pop in their shop next time you’re near Beverly Road.

Inner Rutz

Inner Rutz is a boutique that offers a fresh take on well-being and conscious living. Their soulful shop has a large selection of healing crystals to help cultivate your intuition and guide you through life. This small biz also offers wellness retreats, meditation & yoga classes and distance reiki (this is a Japanese form of alternative medicine called energy healing).

Clothes Horse

Did someone say retail therapy?! The Clothes Horse, located on Beverly Road in Mt. Lebanon, is a women's consignment shop selling elegant and designer fashion items. If you’re looking to spice up your wardrobe, this is the place for you!

Recreation in Mt. Lebanon

While they’re not businesses, we thought we’d throw in some of our favorite recreational areas in Mt. Lebanon. In case you might be looking for some summer activities, there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor fun and exercise here!

Ice rink

The ice rink in Mt. Lebanon is great for adults, teens, and kids! Recently renovated in 2017, the facility offers a wide range of competitive, recreational, and instructional opportunities.

As the pandemic subsides, more businesses are opening back up slowly - and that includes some programs at the ice rink.

Check back here for updates on when public skating sessions and Friday night skates resume.

Tennis Center

Looking for a fun summer activity? The Mt. Lebanon Recreation Department offers tennis clinics for adults and kids

Practice your swing and have fun while doing so with a group of likeminded people. If you prefer to make a racquet on your own, there are free municipal courts available at Williamsburg Park and Meadowcroft Park

Hiking

With 200 acres and 15 parks, there’s a world to explore in Mt. Lebanon’s park system.

Even if you don’t fancy a walk in the woods, pack a picnic lunch and enjoy an afternoon in one of the many pavilions!

Sweet Treats in Mt. Lebanon

Scoops on Beverly

Here at Birgo, we prefer hard ice cream over soft serve any day. If you’re like us, then your sweet tooth will be satiated when you try Scoops on Beverly. We wish our stomachs were as big as our eyes so we could eat allll the ice cream.
Our top pick: Pittsburgh Pot Holes (black-tar fudge ice cream with chunks of chocolate)

Potomac Bakery

Lauren Ball, the property manager for our Mt. Lebanon properties, raves about Potomac Bakery. She said her favorite thing to pick up are their homemade donuts!

They sell everything from breads, pies, cakes, to muffins and cheesecake. There’s truly nothing better than getting fresh pastries from the local bakery!

La Gourmandine

A true taste of France...brought to the ‘Burgh! Walking past this bakery, you’ll be immediately transported to the warm aromas of a French boulangerie and patisserie.

If you’ve ever been to Europe, you must know that the pastries are to-die-for. We can say the same for everything at La Gourmandine.

Bonus points: they’re on GrubHub and DoorDash!

Mt. Lebanon Coffee Shops

Summer days can get hot here in Western Pennsylvania. On those scorching summer days, cool off with an iced coffee from a few of our favorite spots.

Orbis Caffe

Orbis Caffe is not your average neighborhood cafe. With a comprehensive coffee bar and rotating roast selection, they are committed to helping you navigate through the vast array of brew methods, roasts, and flavors to find a cup that inspires you

They now also serve beer, wine and cocktails!

Orbis Caffee is located just down the street from our property, Apartments on Academy. View availability here.

Uptown Coffee

While coffee, tea and assorted drinks are part of the mix and the lunchtime crowd is keen on deli-style sandwiches, the stars of the show are the homemade baked goods.

Our recommendation: Buy some delicious biscotti to dip in your espresso drink!

Uptown Coffee is located just down the street from our property, Central Square Apartments. View availability here.

Mel’s Petit Cafe

Sticking with the French theme from the last section, we’ve got another French shop to tell you about.

The owner, Melanie, was born and raised in the north of France and relocated to Mt. Lebanon with her family several years ago. While they do serve flavorful coffee, their specialty is crêpes. With savory and sweet options, they satisfy everyone’s taste buds.

Fitness Classes in Mt. Lebanon

Challenge yourself both mentally and physically at some of the best fitness classes in Mt. Lebanon.

Mecka Fitness

It’s time to turn up the intensity! Mecka Fitness is a premiere fitness studio in Mt. Lebanon that works you to your core and trains you like an endurance athlete.

Trust us when we say this: you’ll feel so much stronger after completing a sweat-filled workout here.

Mecka has a variety of total body workout classes to choose from including CrossFit, bootcamp, yoga, rowing, cycling and more. Their Bootcamp and BodyLab classes are our faves.

Prana Veda

Prana Veda borders Mt. Lebanon and Dormont, but we still wanted to include it!

Reflect and look inward at one of the best rated yoga studios around Pittsburgh. At Prana Veda, they offer a variety of classes including vinyasa and restorative yoga.

Beginner or advanced, all yogis are welcome here for they offer classes at every level. The studio is also a short distance from our property, Pendale Towers. View availability here.
